Knowledge is Power

A while ago I was talking about how important it is to be knowledgable about how the “Schools” of aromatherapy work. Basically if you want to know what I was speaking about just go here. The basics here is not talking about actual aromatherapy schools that you would take courses at to become a certified aromatherapist. It is talking about how essential oils are divided by the method you follow with using the EO’s.

Yes there are schools where you take courses and you can become a certified aromatherapist but even before you take courses at one of those it is of vital importance to know the three schools of aromatherapy!

Most of the schools you take courses at are teaching you in the viewpoint of the British methods of aromatherapy. Which then also teaches us what?

If people are not fully educated and don’t understand that there are differences or don’t realize what the real differences are, you can’t understand why some people are writing or making statements the way they do!

Make sure you take the time to educate yourself! Make sure you take the time to understand the difference between British, German and French methods of using essential oils. Make sure you take the time to learn that most schools that you would get an aromatherapy license from is taught in the British method. That means most articles that are written and tell you not to use the essential oils neat or digest them do so because they do not believe in it. They are not using pure therapeutic essential oils.

Beware! Knowledge is Power…. The more you education yourself the better it is when someone asks why such and such article says not to ingest this oil or that, the better it is when someone asks you why YOU apply essential oil’s neat when such and such says…

Face Update!

I am having to overcome something I haven’t had to do in over 8 years now. Prior to Young Living Orange Blossom and Juice Plus+ my face would be so dry. I would spend hours in front of a mirror picking the dead skin off my face. It was the only way I could keep pustules from getting worse and making things more difficult.

I find myself still picking at my face. It is this subconscious thing I do now. So instead of it helping my face, it isn’t helping anymore and it is making my face bleed (you can see spots on my face). I really need to focus on what my hands are doing when I am working because that seems to be when I pick the most!

Do you have anything you do that you don’t even realize? I really need to start working on these “little” things!

I Believe

I know not everyone believes in God. I know this because we live in a fallen world. There is evil in the world. There is heartache. I have a child who used to believe and doesn’t anymore. I have a child who believed, didn’t believe and now believes again. I grew up Catholic, never really stopped believe but stopped practicing and then went back and never looked back.

It is okay if you don’t believe. I do not judge you. I love you. I choose to pray for you. I choose to pray that the Holy Spirit move you. It is my choice, just like may be your choice not to believe.

This week though for someone who believes is big. It is bigger than big; it is enormous. This is the week we celebrate Jesus fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies. This is the week Jesus is put to death. This is the week that His blood fulfilled God’s wrath for us. This is the week that He choose to love me over punishment for my sins.

Here comes a honest moment: I have read it. I have thought about it, somewhat. I have never seen TV shows, plays, productions, movies that portray His persecution and death. I have never been able bring myself to do that.

I am not really sure why. I know it is gruesome. It is the most painful and horrific way to die. I am sensitive. I do cry at many things. I don’t like movies where people die, it makes me sad, it makes life real. So maybe I do know why…

Maybe if I were to watch something like that, the reality of what One person did for not only me but the whole world, to save us from our own self. For One person to have so much love to suffer because of what He knew I would choose to do in this lifetime. For One person to believe I was worth saving, worth loving, worth dying for.

Wow….

Tomorrow night starts the Easter production our church is doing. Our daughter is in it and for the first time, I actually bought tickets for my husband and I to go.

I am not completely certain of why I have avoided it all these years. There are many reasons but in my heart maybe it has simply been: I didn’t want to really truly face what HE did for ME. Maybe there is some old stink in me that I haven’t wanted to let go of and so I have really avoided what HE did for ME. Maybe it has been easier to blow up at my children, my husband, or give up on things I know I should not or do things I know I should not because I haven’t faced the truth of what HE did for ME.

No matter, I have felt like this is the year to rip that bandaid off. To face what I have been avoiding. To open my heart and mind fully and embrace what HE did for ME so that WE can have a much closer and fuller relationship.

If you pray I would appreciate prayers tomorrow evening (6-8 PM EST). That this deepens the relationship we have been enjoying and makes it so much more.

Enjoy Life

You don’t have to be perfect to enjoy life. You don’t have to be the one with all of the answers.

For me life has not been enjoyable. I deal with a lot of pain and discomfort with my face.

As you can see below in the images, my face is getting better! I am still using the Young Living Orange Blossom Face Wash. But on March 13th our family added Juice Plus+ to our daily routine! I am not sure if you can see what it has done or not but my face is much smoother and the discomfort level is going down with the use of these two products!

Is there anyone in your life who could benefit from any of these amazing products? Most people have no idea how painful these issues can be. I know I didn’t like talking about it, I was embarrassed to even go out. The worst thing that could happen would be someone would comment on my face. What hurt even more was when it was someone who saw me all the time. I would hear things like, “Wow! Amy your face looks really bad today.” I am not kidding!

Everyone had an answer for me as well. Have you stopped eating this? What about stopping to drinking this? Maybe you can try adding this?  What about stress? Are you managing your stress? What about…..

There were times I just wanted to scream and then say something like, “You know after seeing specialists since 2007 and being on every kind of medication possible I can’t believe they never suggested what you are!” Can you hear the sarcasm? There is nothing out there, until these two products I haven’t tried.

Still I never do say anything. I stand there, with my heart breaking, smiling and thanking them for their suggestions.

Right now, my enjoyment of life is coming from the fact that….

• My children can bump my face and I don’t want to cry
• My children can kiss and hug me and I don’t want to cry
• My husband can kiss me with a beard and I don’t want to cry
• My husband can kiss me with scruff and I don’t want to cry
• I can look in a mirror and I don’t want to cry
• I can wash my face and I don’t want to cry

I would also like to point out that I do understand that everyone who says something to me says it because they care. It still hurts to hear it because it just confirms to me that everyone is thinking and focused on my face and not me.

Body Heat Rising

We have had some elevated body heat in this household. First was the youngest and he was up all night. Then last night it was my baby girl and she was up all night.

Actually they sleep but they moan and cry in their sleep and I stay awake oiling them all night long. It really makes for long days around the house. It makes it hard to function and accomplish much of anything. Yet somehow as a parent we manage.

If you are new to this blog you will see quickly that we would much rather use natural products than store bought products filled with chemicals. We are not against these products but have found for our family, the natural products tend to work better.

So how do we get the body heat down in our household? Young Living Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint and Thieves essential oils. We put it around the naval and the bottoms of the feet. It helps pull the heat out of the body. Similar to if you are overheating in the summer and they tell you to run your wrists or ankles under cool water; it helps pull the heat out of the body!

I also use this method of myself when I am dealing with the changes that happen with every woman, those dreaded hot flashes. Talk about welcome relief! What is your preferred method for dealing with a rise in the body heat?

Throat Tickles

It is the time of year when throat tickles become a huge thing. I feel as if I am always clearing my throat or dealing with the tickle.

Stress Away Before 8 AM

Today was a typical Monday (okay, any day of the week) morning for us here. Children not wanting to get up. Children not wanting to go to school. Children tears, tantrums, meltdowns, being stubborn, arguing, refusing to do things, missing the bus and all before 8 AM!

I have often thought that Homeschooling would be a great option for the children. There are just some things I am not happy with when it comes to public schools. Then days like today happen and I sit and know that we are not a family who is meant to Homeschool!

While I love the idea. I love the concept. I am impressed with families who do and succeed at it. I know it just isn’t in the cards for this family. When this mama is applying her Young Living Stress Away prior to 8 AM on a regular basis, I know this isn’t the life for us.

Still how in the world do you get your children up and moving for school? Doesn’t matter if it is Homeschooling or schooling out of the home! Mine love to argue and make deals over everything! What clothing they wear (even with them picking it out the night before), shoes that need to go on the feet, what coat or sweatshirt they will wear, combing hair, getting out the door, having a better attitude and the list goes on.

Mind you it isn’t JUST the morning. No this mama is lucky that she gets to then repeat this cycle when they walk in the door for the night! Homework, pajamas, dinner, play time, chores and the list still goes on.

It is as if my children have had an attitude switched on and I have no access to the button to turn it off! I seriously hope I am not alone with all of the turmoil that goes on in this house. I am really praying that this is a phase because neither of my older boys went through this, at this to this extreme and for this long of a period!

Homemade Carpet Freshener

I am probably not alone in this but I love a freshly vacuumed room. Not only do I love a freshly vacuumed room, I love it when I put a carpet freshener down and then it smells fabulous.

A couple of things I do not like though about carpet fresheners you buy from a store:

• Cost
• Scents they Offer
• What is in Them

So when we started to use oils I was sure there had to be a better and cheaper way to make a carpet freshener. Plus I knew that with how fabulous the essential oils smelled, I could make a much better smelling carpet freshener!

So I started to just experiment with using baking soda and oils. This is what I do now:

• Quarts Glass Jar with Lid (I used a screw driver and hammer to make holes in the top of it)
• I put about 3 Cups of Baking Soda in the jar
• I put what Young Living Essential Oils I want [my favorites would be Thieves, Purification and Citrus Fresh] in the Baking Soda (about 10-15 drops per Cup of Baking Soda).
• I put some wax paper over the top and then put the lid on.
• I shake up the Baking Soda and E.O’s and then let it sit and absorb the smell.
• I then shake it on the floor and let it sit and then vacuum up the homemade carpet freshener.

I know that it is all natural. I know there are no chemicals. I know that I am not harming my animals, my children or my husband!
